Cuban Breeze in Istanbul
Like every year, Habanos Festival opened its doors to its guests for the 19th time in February. But the difference this year was that the festival felt different in Istanbul. The festival ran from February 27 to March 3 in Havana. There was also a surprise for cigar aficionados in Istanbul on Tuesday, February 28.
Organized under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba and accompanied by the Cigar Club Habanos Room, the Cuban Night, hosted by Audemars Piguet Boutique within Tektaş Saatçilik, made the Habanos Festival feel the most lively and enjoyable to the cigar lovers.
The invitation, with a high participation of diplomats, especially from the business and art world, started at Audemars Piguet Boutique, located at the entrance of St. Regis Hotel in Nişantaşı. I am sure that the magical scent of blue smoke impressed the guests as much as it did before I walked through its door. From the moment I entered, after being received by the esteemed Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba and serving a cigar, I was warmed with a magnificent atmosphere in the warmth of latin music, cigar smoke and mojitos. Everyone had their cigars and drinks in an environment where they chatted with pleasure.
When the hour approached the meal time, we were all invited to Spago on the terrace floor of the hotel and the invitation continued with an aperitif, mojito and most importantly, with a boiling latin music.
The primary purpose of the night is to promote the Cuban culture in the most accurate way, and to accomplish this with latin music and cigars, which are among the most important promotion legs. Considering the warm and sincere attitude of the Ambassador, I do not guess that it will be very difficult.
One of the highlights of the night was the existence of a cigar club like Habanos Room, in an environment where tobacco and tobacco products were so challenging. I hope to be able to share more information about it in the near future, which is a promising development for truly cigar aficionados in such an environment.
